District Attorney Daniella Shorter Levy announces the conviction of ADRIAN GRIFFIN for AGGRAVATED ASSAULT.


On September 22, 2025, Adrian Griffin appeared before the Honorable Judge Tomika H. Irving in Hazlehurst and pled guilty. Judge Irving sentenced Defendant Griffin to Twenty (20) years in custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC). The sentence is for Ten (10) years to serve and Ten (10) to be suspended. Upon release from this charges, Defendant Griffin will serve Five (5) years of supervised probation. Defendant Griffin is also required to pay court costs in the amount of Four Hundred and Twenty Seven Dollars and Fifty Cents ($427.50) and a bond fee as ordered by the Court.


Griffin’s conviction resulted from the following incident: On September 14, 2023, Carra McWilliams called the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office to report that she had been assaulted. When deputies arrived at the scene at 608 Fellowship Road, Lorman, they found visible bruising and blood on Carra McWilliams’ face. In addition to her eye that was swollen shut, she had cuts. The aggravated assault of Alcorn student Carra McWilliams offended the peace and dignity of the citizens of Mississippi. District Attorney Shorter Levy’s mission is to work tirelessly in making sure that violent acts are prosecuted and punished.
