District Attorney Daniella Shorter Levy announces the conviction of ALEX POWELL for Malicious Mischief.
On February 13, 2026, Defendant Alex Powell appeared before the honorable Judge Tomika H. Irving in Copiah County Circuit Court and plead guilty to the aforementioned charge. Judge Irving withheld acceptance of the plea of guilty to said charge. Mr. Powell has been placed in the District Attorney’s Pretrial Intervention Program (PTI) for a period of three (3) years.
If he fails to complete the Pretrial Intervention Program, Mr. Powell faces up to five (5) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Defendant Powell must pay total of $5,372.23 in fines, fees and restitution at a rate of $135.34 per month beginning April 1, 2026.
On December 15, 2023, police were called to the parking lot of Family Dollar in Wesson, MS. Upon arrival witnesses stated that Powell struck the windshield of his ex-wife’s vehicle, owned by her father Marvin Keith Hart. The divorced couple were engaged in an argument while exchanging custody of their child. District Attorney Shorter Levy strives to protect the citizens of the 23rd District, including their person and property.
