District Attorney Daniella Shorter Levy announces the conviction of Derrick Darden for Three (3) Counts of Aggravated Assault. On June 9, 2025, Derrick Darden appeared before the Honorable Judge Tomika H. Irving in Jefferson County Circuit Court to be sentenced for pleading guilty to 3 counts of Aggravated Assault. Judge Irving sentenced Defendant Darden, in all Aggravated Assault counts, to Twenty (20) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC), with Fifteen (15) of those years suspended and Five (5) years to serve. All counts are to run concurrently.
Defendant Darden is required to pay court cost in the amount of Four Hundred and
Twenty-Seven Dollars and Fifty Cents ($427.50) and a bond fee as ordered by the Court.
On December 26, 2021, Darden was involved in a shooting during a party being held at the Fayette Community Center located at 225 Community Drive, Fayette, MS 39069. Said shooting resulted in five people being shot and others being injured while attempting to flee the building. An additional shooter was identified and charged in this matter. Mr. Darden’s unlawful actions and careless disregard for the citizens of Jefferson County will not be tolerated by District Attorney Shorter Levy.
