District Attorney Daniella Shorter Levy announces the conviction of Dewayne Flowers for the charge of Aggravated Assault.
On August 4, 2025, Dewayne Flowers appeared before the honorable Judge Tomika H. Irving in Claiborne County Circuit Court and pled guilty to the aforementioned charge. As Defendant Flowers pled open, admitting his guilt and asking to be sentenced by the Judge, thereby refusing the recommendation for time to serve in the State Penitentiary from the District Attorney, Judge Irving sentenced Flowers to twenty (20) years to serve in the custody of Mississippi Department of Corrections with those twenty (20) years suspended, and five (5) years of supervised probation. Defendant Flowers was also ordered to pay court costs of $427.50, a fine of $2,500.00, and a bond fee of $510.00. During this time, he was also ordered to seek and obtain employment.
On August 13, 2024, Flowers and Donteavious White were at the same location in Claiborne County, and during a confrontation between the two individuals, Flowers shot White. During the investigation of this matter by the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department, Flowers admitted to shooting White. As a result of this incident, Flowers was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault.
