District Attorney Daniella Shorter-Levy announces the conviction of
Jamarrion Robinson for the charge of Aggravated Assault.
On April 21, 2025, Jamarrion Robinson appeared before the honorable Judge Tomika H. Irving in Copiah County Circuit Court and pled guilty to the aforementioned charge. As Defendant Robinson pled open, admitting his guilt and asking to be sentenced by the Judge, thereby refusing the recommendation for time to serve in the State Penitentiary from the District Attorney, Judge Irving sentenced Robinson to twenty (20) years to serve in the custody of Mississippi Department of Corrections with those twenty (20) years suspended. After sentencing Robinson in a manner in which he would not be incarcerated, she then ordered that Robinson be admitted into the Court’s Pretrial Intervention Program for five (5) years. During this time, if Robinson fails to adhere to the terms and conditions of the program, Smith faces up to twenty (20) years of incarceration in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Defendant Robinson was also ordered to pay a fee of $150.00 for investigative costs to the District Attorney’s Office, $427.50 in court costs, and a monthly supervision fee of $100.00.
During the afternoon hours of February 27, 2024, police were called to the address of 132 East Maple Street in Hazlehurst, MS after a female child was reported as being shot at that address. During the investigation of this matter, Robinson admitted to shooting a female child in the shoulder with a shotgun and severely injuring the child. As a result of her injuries, the child in this matter has undergone five surgeries to reconstruct and rehabilitate her shoulder but the doctors have informed her that her shoulder will never operate in a normal manner again.
Furthermore, the victim in this matter was also informed by the doctors that she could never play volleyball again and this has caused her to lose her scholarship opportunities to play volleyball on a collegiate level. Defendant Robinson’s actions were not only in direct violation of the law but a blatant disregard for the safety and welfare of this victim and the citizens of Copiah County, Mississippi.
