JAMARRION ROBINSON PRESS RELEASE

DA Daniella Shorter Office Seal

July 15, 2025

District Attorney Daniella Shorter-Levy announces the revocation sentencing of Jamarrion Robinson for the charge of Aggravated Assault

On April 21, 2025, Jamarrion Robinson appeared before the honorable Judge  Tomika H. Irving in Copiah County Circuit Court and pled guilty to the aforementioned charge. Judge Irving sentenced Robinson to twenty (20) years to serve in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections with those twenty  (20) years suspended. Also, Judge Irving allowed Robinson to enter into the Court’s Pretrial Intervention Program for five (5) years, and if Robinson failed to adhere to the terms and conditions of the program, Smith could be sentenced up to twenty (20)  years of incarceration in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

On July 14, 2025, Jamarrion Robinson appeared before the Court on a Petition to be Terminated from the Court’s Pretrial Intervention Program due to his failure to comply with the terms of the program. During this hearing, it was determined that Robinson violated the terms of the program by being involved in a shooting in June within 60 days of being admitted into the program, failing to come to the required program meetings, and failing to check in regularly with the program. Also, he was shot in the ankle during the shooting he was involved in, and he even failed to tell the court that he had been injured to avoid prosecution. As a result of his total failure to comply with the terms of the program, Judge Irving terminated him from the Court’s Pretrial Intervention Program and sentenced him to twenty (20) years to serve in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections for the crime of  Aggravated Assault.

During the afternoon hours of February 27, 2024, police were called to the address of 132 East Maple Street in Hazlehurst, Mississippi, after a female child was reported as having been shot at that address. During the investigation of this matter,  Robinson admitted to shooting a female child in the shoulder with a shotgun and severely injuring the child. As a result of her injuries, the child in this matter has undergone five surgeries to reconstruct and rehabilitate her shoulder, but the doctors have informed her that her shoulder will never operate in a normal manner again.  Furthermore, the victim in this matter was also informed by the doctors that she could never play volleyball again, and this has caused her to lose her scholarship opportunities to play volleyball on a collegiate level. Defendant Robinson’s actions were not only in direct violation of the law but also a blatant disregard for the safety and welfare of this victim and the citizens of Copiah County, Mississippi.
