District Attorney Daniella Shorter Levy announces the conviction of JORDAN SCARBROUGH.


On February 17, 2026, Jordan Scarbrough appeared before the Honorable Judge Tomika H. Irving in Hazlehurst, MS, and pled guilty to Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm by a

Convicted Felon, and Malicious Mischief.


Judge Irving sentenced Defendant Scarbrough to Ten (10) years in the custody of the

Mississippi Department of Corrections, with Five (5) of those years being suspended, and Five (5) Years to serve. Upon release, Defendant Scarbrough will be under Supervised Probation for Five (5) years. Scarbrough is ordered to pay One Hundred Dollars investigative cost to the District Attorney’s Office, Four Hundred Twenty-Seven Dollars and Fifty Cents ($427.50) in Court Cost, and Restitution to the victims, Else and Darell Broughton, in the amount of Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000).


On November 20, 2024, Officers responded to shots being fired at a Crystal Springs home. Upon arrival, several witnesses, including the victims, Else and Darell Broughton, stated that Defendant Scarbrough arrived at their home and began firing shots at the individuals standing outside. While in the commission of this crime, Defendant Broughton shot into a 2023 Chevrolet Equinox, belonging to the Victims, causing extreme damage to the vehicle. Defendant Scarbrough was previously convicted in Lincoln County Circuit Court for Burglary of a Dwelling in 2023.
