LAVARIOUS BLAND PRESS RELEASE

District Attorney Daniella Shorter-Levy announced the conviction of Lavarious Bland for the crime of Armed Robbery. Bland was sentenced by Judge Tomika H. Irving to serve fifteen (15) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections with eight (8) years suspended, (7) years to serve, and upon his release three (3) years of supervised probation.


On October 9, 2023, Bland was charged in Copiah County for Armed Robbery when

he took the vehicle of Terry Porter while in Copiah County by displaying a gun and

taking Porter’s GMC truck from him. During the investigation of this matter, Porter

stated to the investigator for the Copiah County Sheriff’s Office that Bland took his

truck when he pulled a gun on Porter and he was indicted for this crime. The

investigation of this matter indicated that Bland committed the crime of Armed Robbery. Therefore, Bland pled guilty to the charge of Armed Robbery.
