District Attorney Daniella Shorter Levy announced the conviction of Marvin Murray for the crime of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
On February 17, 2026, Murray appeared in Copiah County Circuit Court and pled guilty to the crime of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. Murray was sentenced by Judge Tomika H. Irving to serve five (5) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, with five (5) years suspended and upon his release five (5) years of supervised probation. Also, he was ordered to pay court costs of $427.50 and a $150.00 investigative fee to the District Attorney’s Office.
On July 11, 2025, Murray was charged for the crime of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender by an investigator from the Copiah County Sheriff’s Office. On this day, the investigator reached out to Murray at his registered address in Copiah County and he was not present at his address and as of this date he was not current with his registration. Also, his family members were contacted in order to locate him and the investigator was unsuccessful in locating Murray in order to get him current on his registration as a sex offender. Because Murray could not be located, he was not in compliance with the rules regarding the renewal of his registration as a sex offender.
Therefore, as a result of his failure to re-register, he pled guilty to the crime of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
