District Attorney Daniella Shorter Levy announces the conviction of MICHAEL A HIGH.


On October 6, 2025, Michael A. High appeared before the Honorable Judge Tomika H. Irving in Jefferson County Circuit Court and pled guilty to Depraved Heart Murder. Irving sentenced Defendant High to Thirty (30) years—Twenty-Five (25) years to serve and Five (5) suspended--in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC). Upon release, Defendant High will serve Five (5) years of supervised probation. High is also required to pay court costs of Four Hundred and Twenty-Seven Dollars and Fifty Cents ($427.50) and a bond fee as ordered by the Court; One Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($100.00) to the Crime Victim’s Compensation Fund.


On January 19, 2024, Michael High was the front passenger of a vehicle driven by his CoDefendant Rhondell Johnson. Johnson and High were driving on Hwy 61 in Jefferson County, MS when High opened fire on another vehicle driven by Robert Odell Campbell. Campbell was killed when shot causing him to crash his vehicle. The District Attorney’s Office will continue to prosecute those persons that seek to harm its citizens and disrupt the peace and dignity of the 23rd Judicial District.
