ZACCHAEUS HUMPHREY PRESS RELEASE

DA Daniella Shorter Office Seal

February 19, 2025

District Attorney Daniella M. Shorter-Levy announced the conviction of Zacchaeus Humphrey on one (1) count of Receiving Stolen Property. Zacchaeus Humphrey appeared before the Honorable Judge Tomika H. Irving in Copiah County Circuit Court and pleaded guilty to the aforementioned charge.

Judge Irving withheld acceptance of the plea of guilty and placed Humphrey in the District Attorney’s Pretrial Intervention Program for a period of three (3) years. If he fails to complete the Pretrial Intervention Program, Banks faces up to five (5) years incarceration in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections and a fine in the amount of $10,000.00. As a condition of the program, Humphrey was ordered to pay $3,600.00 to the District Attorney’s Office for administrative fees, a fine in the amount of $500.00, an assessment in the amount of $125.00 to the District Attorney’s Office for the costs of the investigation, $100.00 assessment to the

Mississippi Crime Victim’s Compensation fund, and a bond fee in the amount of $410.00.

Should this case have proceeded to trial, the prosecution would have shown that on June 27, 2023 the Copiah County Sheriff's Office was contacted in reference to a stolen 2007 Honda motorcycle possibly being recovered. According to the complainant, he found his motorcycle listed for sale on Facebook Market Place. The complainant collaborated with the seller and arranged a date, time and place to complete the sale. Prior to reaching the sale location, Mr. Humphrey turned around and headed back to the interstate. Law enforcement stopped Mr. Humphrey’s truck on the northbound side of Interstate 55 and arrested Mr. Humphrey and another subject. The motorcycle was recovered and returned to the owner.
