District Attorney Daniella Shorter Levy announces the conviction of ZACKERI REASONS.
On September 22, 2025, Zackeri Reasons appeared before the Honorable Judge Tomika H. Irving in Hazlehurst, MS and pled guilty to two counts of Aggravated Assault, one against Anthony Scott, the other against Kemorris Williams. Irving sentenced Defendant Reasons to Twenty (20) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC), Twelve (12) years to serve and Eight (8) years suspended. Upon release, Defendant Reasons will serve Five (5) years of supervised probation. Defendant Reasons is also required to pay Court costs of Four Hundred and Twenty-Seven Dollars and Fifty Cents ($427.50) and a bond fee as ordered by the Court; One Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($150.00) investigative fee to Office of District Attorney; Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) to Crime Victim’s Compensation Fund.
On October 3. 2022 around midnight, the Fayette Police Department and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to “shots fired.” On arrival, at 131 MLK Apartment Road, Fayette, MS in the complex’s parking lot. law enforcement found gunshot victims: 1) Seth Hendricks (gunshot wound to head, and later deceased) and 2) Anthony Scott (gunshot wound to face and hand). District Attorney Shorter Levy’s mission is to work tirelessly in making sure that senseless acts of violence are prosecuted and punished.
